This is on macOS Ventura 13.3.1 with a HP Color Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw on a mac mini M1.
I installed the HP Printer Software using HP Easy Start.
Opening the scanner via Preferences/Printers & Scanners/HP Color Laserjet Pro/Open Scanner works then.
But after an reboot or returning from sleep state the same procedure does not work any langer. The scan dialog windows opened does not detect the scanner and does not allow to scan anymore. The only workaround I found so far is either
a) Open Preview and import from HP Color Laserjet Pro. This still works.
b) Reinstalling the printer driver of the HP Color Laserjet Pro. This works until the next reboot or return from sleep state.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Hi @tallinn1960
Welcome to the HP support community.
I see that you are having issues scanning. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Please Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side, and on the right side of the screen, it should show the printer's name. (Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw)
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop-down to select the printer's name to add it in.
Here is a screen shot of what it should look like. Do you have the Scan tab across the top?
Please perform these steps and Feel free to reply to your public post for any further assistance.

Thank you for responding.
I have lots of screenshots to offer. Please note that I already tried remedies like "Reset the print system and reinstall the Printer", the latter either by HP Easy Start or manually by using System preferences, and the Diagnosis-Tool integrated into HP Smart, but to no avail.
The printer driver I am using is the one from HP, Version 1.7.0. There is a built-in HP Printer driver with Version 3.0 built by Apple, but both show the same issues.
Here are screenshots showing my config:
1. The "Printer & Scanner".´-Page of macOS System Prefernces
2. The dialogue openend after clicking in the printer. Note that HP driver version 1.7.0 is installed.
3. And now the "Scanner"-Page opened by clicking on "Scanner öffnen..." in the above dialogue. This the screen for the situation where the scanner appears to be unresponsive.
4. What I would expect instead is the "Scanner"-Page I get after a fresh (re-)install of the printer driver:
Note the difference: Target folder selection, paper format and document source option are available above, the "Scan"-action button is active. All of that is missing on Picture 3 and there is no way to scan a document there.
As said, Picture 4 I get after a fresh driver install, but after a reboot of my Mac or it returning from sleep state, I get Picture 3 instead.

Further info that might be helpful: the printer is physically connected to the Mac by Ethernet, sharing the same hub. IP configuration of the printer looks sound (i.e. it acquired an IP address valid for my home network from my Internet-Router, both ipv4 and ipv6, the latter within an ipv6-Prefix assigned to my home network by my internet provider). I guess it is no network connectivity issue with the printer, as I see the printer green-lighted in System Preferences and I am able to print or scan by using "Import from HP Color Laserjet Pro" in Preview even in the case the scanner appears to be unresponsive when called via System Preferences.
