OfficeJet 7510
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have a HP OfficeHet 7510 printer / fax / sanner, I was in the middle of scanning in some images, about to scan some more (having alreay scanned nealy 200 images) when all of a sudden the scanner stopped working with the following error message displayed:

No Server Connecton

The printer could not connect to Web Services. Web Services might be busy or temporarily unavailable, and HP Instant Ink will not work properly. Try again Later.

This was last week, in the meantime I have done the following:

- Reset network

- Disconnected and reconnected the printer to the Wireless

- Turned printer on and off

- Disconnected our modem box in the office and reset

- Gone into network and adjusted the IPv4 DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4

When I log in via our IP address and clic 'Scan' I get the following message:

You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer.

I am the person who set up the printer. It was working perfectly and then all of a sudden it stopped mid use.

E-print still works, According to the IP login all is fine, with web services enabled and internet connection etc connected.

There doesn't appear to be a desktop app to download and work from, I am guessing this is because everything is accessible via the IP address link, so I am stumped on how to suppoesedly activate this setting which I never turned off!

I have tried every possible method of amends that I have read on every forum / help desk.

Please help!

@LauraPI

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Photosmart 5520 Printer. I understand that the scan to computer option is disabled and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

It could be a software issue or a firewall problem.

Use HP Scan Doctor to fix this scan to computer issue.

  1. On the desktop, double-click the HP Print and Scan Doctor icon  to open the tool.

  2. Click Start on the Welcome screen.

  3. Select your printer, and then click Next.

The Finding and Fixing Problems screen displays.

    Figure : Select your printer

    Select your printer
  4. Click Fix Scanning.

  5. In the HP Print and Scan Doctor results screen, view the list of actionable results.

Figure : Example of the results screen with no problems detected

    • If you see white checkmarks, the printer passed the tests. Click Test Scan or click Skip.

    • If you see a white wrench, Print and Scan Doctor found an issue and repaired it. Click Test Scan or click Skip.

    • If you see yellow exclamation points, the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped. Click Test Scan or click Skip.

    • If you see a red X, follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.

Click here and refer the document to know how to use HP Scan Doctor.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Thanks SandyTechy20, unfortunately even after the scan I still have the same issue.

The scan doctor did install recommended updates however everything else was green. The issue I am having is with scan to email.

I can scan from the computer using the HP software but ideally in the office we would like to be able to scan to email.

Any updates on the issue would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Hi @LauraPI,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

As I understand you are having issues with scanning to email only. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

I would suggest you setup the email profile via printer EWS page as suggested below. Try the steps below:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • From the EWS, click the Scan tab.
  • Click Scan to Email Setup.
  • Click Outgoing Email Profile, click New, and then enter the email address you intend to use with this profile.
  • Enter a display name that will appear on the printer's control panel to identify this email profile.
  • Enter or confirm the correct SMTP server and SMTP port information.
  • If you typically have to enter a username and password to log into your email account, you will want to enter this information into the email authentication fields, and then click Next.
  • Enter a security PIN to restrict access to this email profile, if desired.
  • Set the size for email files and specify Auto CC, if desired.
  • Click Save or Save and test to complete the profile.

Check this link for detailed instructions.

I hope this should do the trick. Let me know how it goes for further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.
