HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I just got a new Windows 11 laptop.  Once connected to wifi it was able to find and install my existing HP Officejet Pro 8710 without issue.  I also installed the recommended HP Smart app.

I'm able to  print just fine and I can scan from my laptop via the HP Smart App. I cannot, however, scan directly to my laptop from the printer screen.  When I say scan it says "No Computer Found".

It worked well with my old Windows 10 laptops.

How can I get this working?

Thanks, that did the trick.

I do find it odd that the page for this printer doesn't highlight this as something you should install, only "HP Smart" is recommended (and HP Smart isn't smart enough to allow scan to PC 😆).  It's on the page, but down at the bottom and hidden.

Also, at the ind of the install it recommended to install HP Easy Start, but when I clicked Get Software it told me my OS wasn't supported.  It then led me to an HP web page where I had to enter my printer info again and it wanted me to install HP Smart, which it wasn't Smart enough to know was already installed.

Anyway, it's working now, thanks. 😁

@dschaefer

Hello,

The HP Smart application, does not support Scan to PC. For this function, please install the full drivers and software for your printer on your computer.

Please download and install the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 series Full Software and Drivers.

To activate Scan to Computer function from the printer's control panel:

  1. Open the HP Printer Assistant application: Double-click on the shortcut for your printer on the Windows desktop (HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 series). The HP Printer Assistant window will open.
  2. Click on Print, Scan, Fax and then click on Scan.
  3. Click on Manage Scan to Computer.
  4. Click on Enable. If you have the Disable button, it means that Scan to Computer is already enabled.

To activate the Webscan from EWS function, please follow the procedure below:

    1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Wireless icon () to retrieve the printer IP address.
    2. Launch a web page, and then type this address in the address bar and press Enter key. The Embedded Web Server (EWS) opens.
    3. Click the Settings tab, then under Security, click Administrator Settings.
    4. Under Enable/Disable Features, then check the Enable All box, and then click Apply.
    5. Click on OK.

Don't hesitate to contact us in case of need.
