My HP Color Laserjet pro MFP M477fdn can currently print and scan to desktop just fine, but I'd like to enable the Scan to Email feature. I am using a yahoo email, and have gone through the embedded web server, made new profiles adjusting the SMTP port number, adjusted the DNS primary & secondary code to the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (as seen in another forum) and I've tested outgoing e-mail profiles, and they still aren't connecting. I cannot understand what I'm missing here! The message popping up on the printer is "Cannot resolve the SMTP server. Check the SMTP and DNS server settings with your system administrator or Internet Service Provider". The printer is connected directly to the Mac desktop, and says the network is connected on the printer's connection information, does it need to be connected to the router itself to establish a connection sufficient enough for the scan to email?
If more info is needed, please let me know.

If you have the printer directly cabled to the Mac that is likely your problem right there. It needs to be connected to the router. Also, if the printer cannot find the smtp server it is possible that you do not have the correct gateway address set on the printer. Without a correct gateway the printer cannot go anywhere outside of your home network.
