I have my MFP set up on a home wifi network and the printer function works perfectly. I set the Outgoing Email Profile using the smtp settings that my email provider gave me - relay.appriver.com and port 2525. When I test the connection I get the error "Cannot resolve the SMTP server. Check the SMTP and DNS server settings with your system administrator or ISP".
I can't set the Network Folder setup either because that comes up with the error "Cannot find the remote server. Check server name or use IP address to connect. Check that te remote computer is turned on".
I have set network discovery on, and have set the folder to share "Everyone".
Any ideas? I am sure it is something very simple.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate your time and effort.
I understand the issue better now.
- Check if the web services is turned on in the printer.
If not, follow the below steps to turn it on.
-
On your control panel, press the HP ePrint
icon or button.
If your control panel does not have an HP ePrint icon or button, navigate to Web Services Setup, Network Setup, or Wireless Settings to open the Web Services menu.
-
If a Web Services Summary screen or connected status displays, Web Services is already on.
-
If a prompt to turn on Web Services or setup HP ePrint displays, press Turn On, Enable, or Setup.
-
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to turn on Web Services. If you are prompted to update the firmware, press OK.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers.

I updated the firmware on the printer. When the update was complete the configuration report printed. However, I now need the printer claim code and I there doesn't seem to be any report that prints that out for me. I printed out the HP Web Service report and the claim code isn't on there either.
When I try to enable HP web services (via my IP address on the internet interface), I get error "Connection Error. Check internet connection"

Thanks for writing back to us.
Assign manual IP address and that should fix the issue.
To identify which IP address is currently assigned to the printer, do the following:
- On your HP printer, press the Setup button to display setup options for the printer.
- Press the right arrow button until Network Setup appears in the LED window, and then press the OK button.
- Press the right arrow button again until the Print Network Settings option is displayed, and then press the OK button. This prints the network settings, which include the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default Gateway (the address of your network’s router).
Setting a Static IP Address
Once you know your printer’s IP address, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:
- Run your Web browser.
- In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Connections, click Wired.
- Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
- Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
- Click Apply.

Hi and thanks for continuing to send tech help on this issue. I printed out the Network Summary from the printer. I logged into printer via the web browser and used the IP address. Under the Networking tab there isn't a "Wired" tab. This printer is using a WIFI network. Under Networking there is:
Configuration which has IPv4, IPv6, Wirless Configuration, Wi-Fi Direct Setup, Network ID and Advanced. I went to the IPv4 and chose Manual, then used the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway on my Network Summary printout.
Still the same issue when I go to the Scan tab and choose Outgoing Email Profiles, then run a Test. I get error "Cannot resolve the sMTP server. Check the SMPT and DNS server settings with your administrator or ISP. I contacted Appriver and added the SMTP Server and SMTP port they provided.
Is there a service where I can pay for a HP tech to help over the phone? I am willing to do that but don't see an option on your site.
Thanks.
