I set up scan to Email in HP Smart and accidentally input the receiving Email address incorrectly - hence my scans have been sent to somebody else's Email address (I checked and Email address is not available and is in use)

So my question is how do I recall the Emails.

On outlook normally I can go into sent emails and then recall it from there but the scans sent from the printer do not show up as sent in the email address sent folder. So is there anywhere that scans sent by Email are recorded (in HP Smart or elsewhere) and can they be recalled??

Please help if you can !

Thanks in advance for help 🙂

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

If I understand your question correctly,  you want to "get back" or cancel or "recall" emails already sent to a valid email address for a printer that is "somewhere" and belongs to "someone".

Sorry, no -- you cannot undo the "send" in this case.

Once the job has been scheduled, accepted, and sent on its way, for all intents and purposes (on your side), the job is gone.

Yeah, but -- I sent MY stuff to someone I don't know.

Most people that use this type of service (Scan to Email) limit who can use their printer's email.

This means that mail from "you" will not be delivered (or printed) on the stranger's printer.  Why?  "You" -- that is, your email address -- is not on the list of allowed senders for the other person's printer.

Apologies for the awkward wording -- typing on the fly...

Unfortunately,

You might not receive any notice either way.

Hi

Thank you so much for responding quickly.

I may not have made it clear - the printer is my own personal printer and I set up the scan to Email function in HP Smart to send some documents directly to my son. Unfortunately I made a typo in his email address (which I've discovered is in use by somebody else). So am concerned that personal documents have been sent to a stranger.

I would have expected the emails to show up in my sent folder of my **bleep** address, where I could use the recall function, but they are not included in the normal sent mail folder.

So is there anywhere that I could access history of emails sent via HP Smart please or are there any settings that I can alter to ensure that future emails appear in my **bleep** sent folder?

Thanks again

From within HP Smart:  Check the "Activity Bell" in the app -- the format might be slightly different for HP Smart Windows as compared to HP Smart Mobile.  I doubt what you are seeking is there.

Jobs sent using HP Smart > Scan > Share (to Email) in HP Smart might show up in your email outbox / sent box.  If the service acts the way it is designed, the job is quickly sent on its way to a sorting station where it is checked for security, configuration (acceptable formatting), and address.

Jobs sent using ePrint do not share all the options found in regular email services.  It's an old technology - ePrint still works, but it does have limitations.  HP ePrint does not behave like you'd expect normal email to act.

Both kinds of jobs are sent from the sender's email address to a server farm where the thousands (millions?) of submissions are check and sorted (by machine) and sent along to the valid printer email address.

I am not aware of a "recall" mechanism in the process -- that is, the job is not "held" anywhere along the line so you can find it and change your mind.

Yes, I could be missing the point.
