HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

Is anyone else able to use this feature lately? If so, what are your settings? I have updated my firmware too.

Port = 25 or 587 both don't work for me

SMTP = smtp.office365.com

Username and password

I have tried all kinds of combinations too. Including SSL/TLS and I have a feeling that Microsoft no longer supports the version inside this printer anymore.

Appreciate any ideas, thank you.

Hi @Anon140

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

If you're having trouble setting up the email function on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 with Office 365, here are some settings and troubleshooting steps to consider:

Recommended SMTP Settings for Office 365

  1. SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com
  2. Port:
    • Use 587 for TLS (recommended).
    • Use 25 if 587 doesn’t work, but it’s generally less secure.
  3. Encryption Method:
    • Select STARTTLS (or TLS) if available.
  4. Username: Your full Office 365 email address.
  5. Password: Your Office 365 email password.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

Check Internet Connection:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the internet. You can print a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to verify.

Test Different Passwords:

  • Make sure your password is correct. Sometimes, resetting it can help resolve authentication issues.

Enable SMTP Authentication:

  • Ensure that SMTP authentication is enabled in your Office 365 settings.

Check for Security Settings:

  • Office 365 might require additional security settings. Make sure that “Less secure apps” access is enabled in your account settings.

Firewall Settings:

  • Ensure that your router's firewall settings are not blocking the printer's access to the SMTP server.

Update Firmware Again:

  • Double-check if the printer firmware is fully updated. Sometimes, reapplying updates can help.

Reset Network Settings:

  • If you continue to face issues, consider resetting the network settings on your printer and reconfiguring it.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Does your software support TLS version 1.2 or above?

I think Microsoft disabled basic passwords completely Sep 30, 2024. So if you have 2 factor on......and try to use "app passwords" this will not work. Your code must be changed to Auth2 now.

Even Google has done this along with Microsoft. I think HP among other vendors will need to change their code.

Starting on September 30, 2024, less secure apps, third-party apps, or devices that have you sign in with only your username and password will no longer be supported for Google Workspace accounts. For exact dates, visit Google Workspace Updates. To continue to use a specific app with your Google Account, you’ll need to use a more secure type of access that doesn’t share password data. Learn how to use Sign in with Google.
