Hello! I'm having an issue with the Scan to Email feature on this printer. I had previously set it up a few years ago and it was working, but within the last few weeks it suddenly will not work anymore. I'm using a wireless connection.
1st issue is that when I go to the main page of the Embedded Web Server (both in Chrome and the HP Smart app), it lets me through when I click Scan > Scan to Email, but clicking Scan to Email Setup gives me an Internal System Error like 99% of the time. For like 10 minutes it decided to allow me into the outgoing sender profile settings, and then the EWS was back to the Internal System Error again.
The main thing I'm trying to figure out is why the scan to email function will not work. In the short time that I was able to access the sender profile settings, I tried updating all the different combinations of settings. SMTP server and port are up to date, email address and password are definitely correct, but I'm getting all the different errors when trying to Save and Test. Sometimes it says incorrect credentials, other times it's secure connection failed. I'm at a loss. This used to work and I have no idea how to get it to reconnect.
Apologies for the long post, hopefully someone here has a solution to this issue!

Welcome to the HP English Community --
In the years since you set up your original Scan to Email Profile in EWS, things have changed -
The most important of the changes:
Most every major email provider has permanently disabled "Less Secure Apps" access to their email servers.
Scan to Email --
Scan from machine (printer) to machine (email provider server) must meet the stricter email security guidelines.
Short version:
- Go to your email provider's security page for your account
- Enable 2FA (formally called 2-step verification)
- Create an App Password
- Make note of the App Password created for you --
- Edit your Scan to Email Profile -- When asked for the password to your email account, enter the App Password you created.
--------------------------------------------------
<< Side Bar >>
If you have already edited your Scan to Email Profile and it does not work, perhaps first try restarting Printer, router, and any device you are using to edit / update / create your Scan to Email Profile.
and / or
Piles of Rubbish
Delete the current Profile(s) > Restart everything > Open EWS > Create new profile and use your App Password

General Example - (Standard format) EWS - Scan to Email - Profile

What else?
Several months ago (in 2024), Windows Mail trans-mutated itself to New Outlook as the main Mail app in Windows.
If not done, and you want to use "Share" in Windows, you'll need to move from old Windows Mail to New Outlook.
General Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan Photo > Share
