I have the scan to email feature setup on my HP OfficeJet Pro 8740.
When I attempt to use it, I get an error that is very generic -> "Network error. Check the printer's network connection and try again."
I can see in the logs on my email server the following log entry when the printer attempts to connect:
TLS error on connection from [printer's IP address]:58241 (SSL_accept): error:1408A0C1:SSL routines:ssl3_get_client_hello:no shared cipher
I temporarily changed the settings on my email sever to "allow weak SSL/TLS ciphers" and then the send to email feature was able to successfully send.
Does anyone know what specific cipher the send to email feature is attempting to use? Is there a way to force the printer to use stronger ciphers?
Allowing weak ciphers isn't really an option on am email server that requires PCI compliance and goes against the default settings for most email server installations these days. This is not only a security hole but also presents a significant compatibility problem for people buy HP printers.
