HP LaserJet MFP M283fdw

Hi all,

I'm struggling to set up SCAN to EMAIL for the printer. I've created Outgoing Email Profiles, provided the O365 username/password etc... all as per guide that I've found for HP printers. However, I always get "Username or password is incorrect....". I'm sure that it is correct. I've also found that there are some restrictions for using O365 account this way, one of them is that the device MUST support TLS 1.2.... which I can't find anywhere....

How could I find it? Is this the reason for getting "Username/Pass incorrect" message?

Hi,

thank you for your answer.

The first video - I had it set up the same way, however, when I click SAVE & TEST, I get that "Username/Password incorrect..." message. The same like in video "HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw : Set up Scan to Email (**bleep**) with Embedded Web Server" from your 2nd link. For **bleep**, there is this additional step to turn off MFA and Turn On "less secure Apps".....  Is there also a guide for O365 email account?

Also, how could I find out whether the printer supports TLS 1.2? It is running on the latest firmware - 20200324 I guess, as it does not find any firmware available for upgrade.

Hi,

Is it possible to check with the company admin on the settings?  Some company has additional security put in place for the mail servers.

Thanks.

I will check. I know there are "Security Defaults" applied on O365 accounts....

Anyway, if the printer doesn't support TLS 1.2, I will not be able to make it work the standard way. Is there a place I can find whether this printed does or does not support TLS 1.2 please? So that I do not troubleshoot somehting that is not supproted at all 🙂

Hi @MikeSum

These are the printer specs :

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06509664

Security management
Embedded Web Server: password-protection, secure browsing via SSL/TLS; Network: enable/disable network ports and features, SNMPv1 community password change; HP ePrint: HTTPS with certificate validation, HTTP Basic Access Authentication; Firewall and ACL; SNMPv3

Doesn't say what version of TLS though.

Hope that helps!
