macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi all;

First is that I am not happy with this problem (again). It was a pain to get it working in the first place (different time settings on printer and Mac) and now grrrrrrrr

scanning a lot of docs to fixed folders.

What I discovered so far is that I can connection till .......\Users\username\

anything more and it is over.

considering points: Catalina asked for permission to folders, external disks (my startup disk is external btw)

I gave HP smart full disk acces but that did nothing.

If you ask my "stupid" opinion I would say that here is a folder missing between \username\??????\Documents\....

All help is welcome here

and yes easy scans works but a lot of actions more to do. including waking to Mac and printer back and fort

thanks

just an advice for people having trouble with this:

DELETE ALL HP APPS, RESTART, CLEAR PRINTERS, RESTART, CLEAN HP FOLDERS IM LIBRARY

USE AN APP CLEANER TO DELETE LEFT OVERS.

after that I got connection right away.

I found it strange that I could connect without problems to my VM I installed last week so that is why deleted everything related to HP.

IronBadger is "right" about the time settings but in my case I just sync the time Mac to printer.

it is a brain cracker this scan to network but I bought it as I scan a lot to different folders.

EXTRA Info

I deleted all sharing folders and made new ones with NO positive result.

When you set up a Network path you only need tp put the shared folder.  Not the entire path.

macOS sets up shared folders at the root.

For example my scan shared folder is located in /Users/Shared/Scans

But the network path is \\computername.domain\Scans

I just verified this in Catalina as well.

Hi IronBadger,

Thanks for the reply but still NO GO here.

  • //192.168.0.60/Scan Documents.    with login name and password -----> incorrect credentials*
  • //192.168.0.60/Scan Documents.    with homedir name and password -----> no connection destination
  • //Paulus iMac.local/Scan Documents.    with login name and password -----> incorrect credentials*
  • //Paulus iMac.local/Scan Documents.    with homedir name and password -----> no connection destination

* I am sure these are correct

I don't see what I am doing wrong

about your remark  "

THis is nice... saves a lot of typing but as you see above still a no go.

My first suggestions would be to remove the spaces in the path.

so if using the local computer name use the one listed in the Paulas-iMac.local as outlined under the computer name.

\\Paulus-iMac.local\Scanned Documents

The incorrect credentials is also indicative of the time/date being off between the macOS and the printer.  On the newer devices  (OfficeJet Pro 9020) I know the time zone is predetermined as GMT and you have to set the time on the printer as GMT but matching your time in your time zone.  For example I in MST so at 9:53 AM on my macOS, I need to set the printer to 3:53 PM.

"By default, the time is shown in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Click "Apply" to enable any changes to these settings. To configure other date and time settings, click "Advanced"."

I will need to find a 8710 top see if it is the same case.  It's been a while since I looked at that device.

Hello,

Has this been figured out yet? I'm specifically trying to understand what network path to input in order to be able to Scan to Network Folder from my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus to my Mac desktop running OS Catalina 10.15.1

Screenshot of the File Sharing, Network Path, and Scan to Network Folder wizard:

Hello Seridian,

like I said above: if you updated from Mojave .... delete anything that has to do with the printer.

(I had an 8600 also with the same problems under Mojave and earlier)

again delete all software, delete your printers from system prefs. restart every time so that you get a "fresh" machine.

Total RESET YOUR PRINTER if I remember correct touching home-return on the display 4-5 times you get in to the root of the printers menu. find the reset

instal all software again following the manual.

scan to network:

share your file with sharing in system pref (follow manual hp)

path: \\your Mac IP address\sharedfolder

ip you find in your router (I have a static IP on my Mac due to installed software)

credentials:

your account name (that is the one you find in your users folder on your HD

login

DONT CHANCE THE TIME ON YOUR PRINTER

this is time consuming and frustrating, at least for me. but now I am happy. saves me tons of time scanning docs.

Have fun this weekend... don't scream!!! good luck

Hello there.  I am still haveing a problem connecting to the SCAN TO NETWORK FOLDER for my HP Officejet Pro 8600 n911g.  I upgraded to Catalina and had to reinstall things.  My scan folder is just the Downloads folder and i have tried many different paths.   I went into System Folder then Shared.  Found my computer name so do i use the .local as well?  I tried that and just copy paste the other \\computer name\Downloads .   still never worked.

I am computer "illiterate" when it comes to this programming language.

Thanks in advance for your reply.
