HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I set our new HP 9135E up about a month ago and have yet to be able to get the scan to email function to work when trying to do from the device. When I place the documents in the feeder, enter my email address on the screen and select Send, it starts scanning and says Sending. Once all documents are scanned the Sending message goes away and turns to Cancelling.

Hi @MC0522

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 9135E is having trouble with the scan-to-email function and it shows “Cancelling” after attempting to send, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Email Settings:

  • Ensure that the email settings are configured correctly in the printer’s setup menu:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel and access the email setup.
    • Make sure you’ve entered the correct email address and SMTP server settings. Double-check for any typos.

2. Use Supported Email Services:

  • Ensure that the email service you're using is supported by the printer. Some services may require additional settings (like enabling "Less secure app access").

3. Check for Firewall/Antivirus Issues:

  • If you're using a company email, check if there are any firewall or security settings blocking the printer’s access to the internet.

4. Test Email Functionality:

  • Try sending an email directly from the printer (if supported) to verify that the email function works.

5. Update Firmware:

  • Check for any firmware updates for the printer. Visit the HP Support website to see if there are updates available and install them.

6. Reset Network Settings:

  • If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, try resetting the network settings and reconnecting to your network.

7. Run Network Test:

  • Perform a network test from the printer's control panel to ensure that it is properly connected to your network.

8. Try a Different Email Address:

  • Test with a different email address to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the email account being used.

9. Factory Reset (if necessary):

  • If none of the above steps work, consider performing a factory reset on the printer. Be sure to save your settings beforehand, as this will restore the printer to its default state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
