Officejet Pro 6830
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Scanning to email used to work fine. All of a sudden sent scans are not being received anymore and now the scanning has stopped altogether.

I’ve reset the printer, setup the scanning process again but still it gives me the following error:

Scan failure

The scan failed. Try again ot touch exit to quit.

not a very helpful message.

Copying still works fine by the way, so it doesn’t seem to be a physical error.

Anyone any idea?

@Hnscsprs, Welcome to HP Support Community!

What happens when you scan from the computer? Does that work?

Refer to the document HP Printers - How to Scan (Mac) for alternate scanning methods.

Follow the steps below-

1. Find out the IP address or hostname of the printer by touching (Wireless) or (Ethernet) or by printing a network configuration page. Note: The printer must be on a network and must have an IP address.

2. In a supported web browser on your computer, type the IP address of the printer. For example, if the IP address is 123.123.123.123 Note: If you get a security message as "your connection is not private", click on Advanced and proceed to this website.

On the printer settings page, go to Scan > scan to email > Select your email address > Edit > Authenticate > Email login authentication > Input new password > Next > Save and Test

Also, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Let me know how this goes.
