Hi! @hopems, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand the scan to email feature has stopped functioning on your printer.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Do you get any errors while you perform scan to email?
Try updating the email address and password in EWS page.
Please try assigning a static IP to your printer and check if the issue persists.
Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen, you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
- Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below.
Please try the steps mentioned below.
1. Select Web Services on the front panel., then Settings.
2. Select 'remove web services' and wait for the services to be eliminated.
3. Once this is complete, you will return to the home page.
4. Select the Web Services icon on the printer and go through the steps to setup Web Services once again.
5. You will be provided a more recent code. Later on, you can utilize this code to add the printer to your eprintcenter.com/ hpconnected.com account utilizing this code.
6. You may or may not be required to create a different email address.
7. Try another scan to email utilizing the app.
Refer the laptop user guide to know more information. Click Here
Note: Refer page 43 for more information.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂

I have got it to work. I don't consider this a fix, rather a workaround. I turned Allow less secure apps to ON in my google account. This made it work but I don't like having my Google account set with high vulnerability. Can HP have a more secure app so that I don't have to do this?

@susieQew, Thanks for your prompt response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned after turning on allow less secure apps on, you are able to use the scan to email option.
I'm glad to know you found a workaround.
However, to solve the issue completely try updating printer firmware and configure the scan to email again.
Update the printer firmware using this link. Click Here
Configure the Scan to E-mail feature
-
Click the System tab.
-
On the left navigation pane, click the Administration link.
-
In the Enabled Features area, set the Scan to Email option to On.
-
Click the Scan tab.
-
On the left navigation pane, click the Outgoing E-mail Profiles link.
-
On the Outgoing E-mail Profiles page, click the New button.
-
In the E-mail Address area, complete the following fields:
-
In the Your E-mail Address field, enter the sender’s email address for the new outgoing email profile.
-
In the Display Name field, enter the sender’s name. This is the name that will display on the printer control panel.
-
-
In the SMTP Server Settings area, complete the following fields:
-
In the SMTP Server field, enter the address of the SMTP server.
-
In the SMTP Port field, enter the SMTP port number.
NOTE:
In most cases, the default port number does not need to be changed.
NOTE:
If you are using a hosted SMTP service such as gmail, verify the SMTP address, port number, and SSL settings from the service provider’s Web site or other sources. Typically, for gmail, the SMTP address is smtp.gmail.com, port number 465, and the SSL should be enabled.
Please refer to online sources to confirm these server settings are current and valid at the time of configuration.
-
If you are using Google™ Gmail for email service, select the Always use secure connection (SSL/TLS) check box.
-
-
If the SMTP server requires authentication to send an email, complete the following fields in the SMTP Authentication area:
-
Select the SMTP server requires authentication for outgoing e-mail messages check box.
-
In the SMTP User ID field, enter the user ID for the SMTP server.
-
In the SMTP Password field, enter the password for the SMTP server.
-
-
To require a PIN to be entered on the printer control panel before an email is sent using the email address, complete the following fields in the Optional PIN area:
-
In the PIN (Optional) field, enter a four digit PIN.
-
In the Confirm PIN field, re-enter the four digit PIN.
NOTE:
HP recommends creating a PIN to secure the email profile.
NOTE:
When a PIN is created, it must be entered on the printer control panel each time the profile is used to send a scan to email.
-
-
To configure optional email preferences, complete the following fields in the E-mail Message Preferences area:
-
From the Maximum Size for E-mail Message Attachments drop-down, select the maximum size for email message attachments.
NOTE:
HP recommends using the default file size of Automatic for the maximum size.
-
To automatically copy the sender on email messages sent from the profile, select the Auto CC checkbox.
-
-
Review all the information, and then click one of the following options:
-
Save and Test: Select this option to save the information and test the connection.
-
Save Only: Select this option to save the information without testing the connection.
-
Cancel: Select this option to quit the configuration without saving.
-
Let me know if this works!
Have a pleasant day ahead! 🙂

To clarify, I never upated the firmware, it has been up to date during this whole issue, so there was no need to try email to scan again, since the firmware never changed and I am in the same environment as I was. I will mark the solution as solved only so others can find the work around. This is not a fix. As I said HP should step up and catch up with Google/gmail so I don't have to open my system up to be vulnerable.
