I set up Scan-to-email in the printer. We are using Office 365 as the email to send. When I do a test, the test sends. I did send one email before and it worked. However, within like 20 minutes the functionality stopped working with an error "SMTP server unavailable". Even during this time if I go back to the settings and do a test, the test sends. Ever since it stopped working it has never worked again. So it's not like it comes and goes. It just decided to stop working. This issue is happening with two of our printers at this location of the same model. Other model printers are able to do scan-to-email.
I do not understand this. If the test works, shouldn't the actual function work? I would like to know any troubleshooting steps I can take to resolve this. I have searched the forums, but all the answers seem to be related to the configuration. However, if the configuration isn't correct I would presume the test wouldn't work. That also doesn't explain why it worked once, but then stopped.
Thank you for any assistance on this. Below are the SMTP information we use.
Office 365 SMTP settings
Server name: smtp.office365.com.
Port: 587.
Encryption method: SSL/TLS.
SMTP authentication: ticked.
Authentication: your password.

I have updated the firmware of this printer and got a success when I sent the scan-to-email via the function in the printer.
I chose this Firmware:
FutureSmart Bundle Version 5.6 - HP Color LaserJet Managed MFP E87640/50/60 Series Printer FIRMWARE
2506116_037326 866.3 MB Feb 6, 2023
I will monitor this and update this as the answer once I confirm that both printers are functioning, and the issue doesn't come back after an hour or so.
EDIT/UPDATE: The functionality remained. The scan-to-email issue is resolved. The firmware update fixed the issue for me for both printers.
