Scan to network - Incorrect credentials

None of these methods work for me either. 

This is a problem with the Aug 31 2018 driver update. I have used my X576dw MFP for years with my Mac. I can press the Scan to Folder button and documents are saved on my Mac Scans folder. Now that doesn't work after the last update, about two weeks now when my printer automatically did it. I've tried the workgroup/username method but that doesn't work. Someone at HP needs to fix this. This has nothing to do with ones HP account. There are dozens of people complaining in the last few weeks. HELP. And of course my printer is out of warranty so I can't call support to create a ticket even though HP actually broke it remotely.

have you installed the latest printer updates and checked?

If not please ensure your printer is fully up to date by folloiwng below utility:

Additionally from System Preferences select Sharing, Under File Sharing click the options button and ensure your username is marked for SMB within that window too.

May you see nay difference while running a test for the shared folder now?

Thank you for replying with the updater help. But there is no newer update per the driver updater program Firmware Version LZP1CN1829BR

No luck with 2 macs running Mac OS 10.13.6. SMB is been selected with password types. with workgroup/ and without in user name. Also enabled R/W for user, staff, everyone for shared folder. Since the update of the firmware that was dated in late August this has runied my printer. So frustrating.

Hello, I am writing hoping it will help someone despite having been a while since the last post in this thread.
I was facing the same issue running MAC OSX 10.14 and solved it by switching off SMB and AFB as well as the whole FILE SHARING.

I then switched FILE SHARING BACK ON and then (from Options within the FILE SHARING tab) switched back on SMB too.

That was enough to fix the whole WRONG CREDENTIAL issue.

I'm having the same issue with an 8720.

Turned off SMB/AFP (and then back on) but it did not solve.

Was someone able to solve this annoying issue?

HP support was not able to figure it out.

Note: The shared folder works fine when accessed from a windows computer using the very same credentials.

I'm posting this for anyone who does a Google search and comes up with bupkis.

I struggled with this error for a long time and finally solved it by . . . wait for it . . . turning it off and on again. Specifically the SMB sharing option in macOS.

It was driving me insane and this ended up being all that needed to be done.

I am having this same problem with Fedora 30.

I was using one HP 8600 on a different network with a Fedora 30 machine, and scan to network worked fine.

I then moved the machine to a new location, new network, and a different 8600(N911a), and I cannot get past the credentials error.

At the same time, on another computer on the network, I can do smb://192.168.1.250/hostname and then it prompts for user/pass for samba, and I put it and it works fine.  I then see everything.

But if I do the SAME thing with HP scan to network setup, it says incorrect credentials.

Please help?

I have had this problem for over a year. I have tried all the latest versions of firmware as well as all the HP and Apple drivers for the printer. I have turned on and off the SMB, I have used the IP address of the printer so there is no DNS involved, I have checked in the printer set up and checked SMB 1, SMB 2, and SMB 3 just to make sure all the versions of SMB are tried. None of this works. I have an HP X576dw page wide printer. I have tried using scan to Computer as a work-around, but this gets an error when the document is on the glass and it says ADF is empty. This is ridiculous. Why does it take so long to get this fixed?
