I have tried to setup the network path to a shared folder so I can scan directly to my Mac. I followed the instructions:
- created a shared folder
- enabled filesharing for my username
- enabled file sharing with SMB and AFP
- Display name
- folder path \\192.168.178.20\Scans (the folder scans is in my root)
- gave it my username and password
No mather what I try in folder path or the test fails and I cant scan. What am I doing wrong?
edit: When using the Scan to network Setup Wizard on my other PC, I can even see the above folder on my mac. I just cant connect to it?

Hi, I have followed all the same steps, but the Scan To Network Folder set up always fails at the Test step.
My printer can see that I'm trying to set up a folder of the name ScanToEmail; I know there is connectivity to the printer.
I set up an account called 'printer' and have shared the destination folder with Read/Write settings: \\192.168.1.2\Users\mylongusername\Documents\ScanToEmail
I'm unable to create a shared folder in my root, how do you do you set the permissions to allow that?
I have not set a PIN.
Unfortunately the test doesn't provide any helpful error message besides Failed, Try Again.
Can anyone suggest how I could troubleshoot further?

Hello, @VirginiaP15
Thanks for reaching out! I'd like to help 🙂
What is the printer model that you are using? Is it the same as LaserJet MFP M477fdw? Also, what is the OS version on your PC?
Alternatively, check this wonderful YouTube video for clear instructions on setting up your printer for scan to network folder using the printer EWS: http://hp.care/2dzoNvJ
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
To help you with this issue, I need to know the printer model that you are using and the operating system on your PC. Please reply with the details.
Also, what are the steps that you have tried so far? Let me know if you have tried the steps listed below:
1) Assign a public DNS address to the printer.
2) Disable the IPv6 on the printer.
3) Update the printer firmware.
4) Create a new scan to email profile via printer EWS.
Thanks, I will watch for your reply!
