Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
For the HP Smart Tank 5101 All-in-One Printer, once you've scanned the pages, you typically need to complete the scan and save the document using the software you're using to scan (usually the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device).
If you've scanned the pages but are unsure how to complete or finish the process, here's how you can do it:
1. Using the HP Smart App (Windows/Mac/Phone)
Scan the Pages:
- After placing the pages in the scanner and starting the scan via the HP Smart app, the app should automatically show a preview of the scanned pages.
Finishing the Scan:
- HP Smart app typically does not have a "Finish" button. Once the scanning is complete, it will show you the scanned image(s).
- You can either preview or edit the scanned pages if needed.
Save the Scanned Document:
- In HP Smart, there will be an option to save or send the document. Look for a Save button in the app.
- Click Save or Save As, and choose the location on your computer or mobile device where you'd like to save the scan (like your Desktop, Documents, or another folder).
- Choose a file format like PDF, JPEG, or PNG, depending on your needs.
Send the Scan (Optional):
- If you're using HP Smart, you can also send the scanned document directly via email or upload it to cloud storage after the scan finishes.
2. Using Windows Fax and Scan (If Using Windows)
Scan the Pages:
- After scanning the pages using Windows Fax and Scan, the pages should be displayed on the screen.
Save the Scan:
- In the Windows Fax and Scan application, after scanning, you should see the Save As option.
- Choose File > Save As, and select a location to save the file (e.g., Desktop or another folder).
3. Using Mac Preview App (If Using a Mac)
Scan the Pages:
- After scanning, the Preview app should show the scanned pages.
Save the Scan:
- In Preview, after the scan finishes, go to File > Save or File > Export.
- Choose a location, such as Desktop, and select the file format (PDF, JPEG, etc.).
- Save the documen
I hope this helps.
