Hi, I purchased a ScanJet G4010 some years ago that (though dog-slow) works fine until today. When loading the HP Scanning application, I can select all the desired settings, click "Scan" and then save location, etc. Once I click OK. the "Preparing to Scan" screen pops up, and the motor starts to run as if the scan is going to begin, but nothing happens -- it just sits there forever. App is frozen and has to be killed in task manager.
Troubleshooting steps taken:
- have rebooted PC
- have reinstalled HP software
- have powered off scanner, uninstalled HP software, rebooted, reinstalled HP software
- have run HP Print and Scan Doctor, selected the scanner, clicked "Fix Scanning" (i clicked on "more info" hyperlink and find that "Recommended Updates" and "Device Manager" both pass; then on "Driver check" it hangs -- the "Scanning..." bar progresses to about 40%, the software tells the scanner to move the motor for about 1 second, then a higher pitched move for about 1/4 second, then pauses for about 30seconds, then lower pitched motor for about 2 seconds in succession -- at that point no more progress -- the "Scanning..." bar stays at 40% forever and "Driver check" never completes.
