When I upgraded to Mac OS 10.12.4 my Scanjet 4890 flatbed scanner software ceased to work correctly. Does HP plan to develop appropriate software to make the Scanjet 4890 compatable with Mac OS 10.12.4? If HP will not develop appropriate updates, are there any known work arounds for the incompatiblity of the Scanjet and the Mac OS 10.12.4? Thanks

Hi,
OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) was the latest supported operating system, the scanner is no longer officially compatible with any later SO X version.
You may try installing the 10.6 software below and see if it may work, although there are likley to be issues:

If you experience issues you may try installing the 3rd party VueScan application and see if it may scan from your scanner using the HP drivers correctly:

Hope that may work,
Shlomi
