HP Scanjet 5590
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

1. Installation of the most recent official software for Scanjet 5590 stops in the middle after the first component (scanjet 5590 software) before TWAIN/Iris etc. Macromedia window remains opent "please wait" but the 2nd part of the install process does not start.

2. Probably as a result no scanninng. Front buttons of the scanner not working (twain missing) and starting scan from the installed software initiate the scanner (activate from powersave); software window opens but scanning does not start.

Win10 64 bit; USB. HP CP1025nw on wireless is the other HP product installed. ASUS z97 MB, i7-4790k/16GB, SSD.

Tried and not working:

- different USB port, different USB cable

- fresh Win10 64bit install

- full removal of software and driver  (windows install cleaner, folder removal, registry removal) and reinstall

- HP support framework/assistant/scan-print doctor ["driver not installe" result sometime, but driver is visibly installed and the assistant fails to resintall it]

Installing the software in safe mode (after modifying registry it is possible) all component full installs (scan software, iris, twain etc.) but still the same issues - scanning does not work.

Any idea/suggestion?

Ok here is the solution that works for me:

Youtube

In brief

- you extract the files form the package (winrar will be required)

- run HPZstub.exe  (NOT setup.exe)

problem solved .......

I went trough couple of instruction package and remote session with support and got this link after my issue was passed to L2 support.

I have the same problem.  But the file I download from HP, "setup_full_5590_20_0_0_002", is a .exe file not a WinRar or Zip fille, so I cannot extract the file and use the proper fille to install the scanner.  Any suggestions.

you can open that exe with winrar - it is a selfextracting arhive.

one more suggestion...

on win10 64bit the following installation of 5590 works for me repeatedly:

(1) download and install Win8.1 64bit Twain driver

(2) download and isntall Win8.1 64bit Full Feature software

in my experience you have ot install the Twain first (and 8.1) before installing the full package.

I had hours and days long session with support last year and I was told that the win10 package will be updated and "fixed". Still the old package available - it never worked for me.

Hope it help you guys.
