Hi @VP0509,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your scanned documents are turning out blurry, there are a few things you can check and try to improve the scan quality.

  • Scanner Glass Cleanliness: Ensure that the scanner glass is clean and free of dust, smudges, or debris. Even small particles can affect the clarity of scanned documents.
  • Resolution Settings: Check the resolution settings of your scanner. Higher resolution settings (dots per inch or DPI) generally result in clearer scans but can increase file size. Try scanning at a higher resolution if you haven't already.
  • Document Positioning: Make sure the document is placed properly on the scanner bed. Align it correctly along the edges to avoid any cropping or skewing that could affect clarity.
  • Scanner Settings: Some scanners have settings for document type (text, photo, mixed). Ensure that the settings are appropriate for the type of document you are scanning. For text documents, choose settings optimized for text.
  • File Format: If possible, try scanning the document in a different file format (e.g., TIFF instead of PDF) to see if the quality improves.
  • Scanner Software Updates: Ensure that your scanner's software drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updating the software can resolve scanning quality issues.
  • Preview Function: Use the preview function if available in your scanning software to adjust settings and see how the scan will appear before finalizing the scan.
  • Scanner Calibration: Some scanners allow for calibration. Check your scanner's manual or settings to see if calibration can improve scan quality.
  • Network or Email Compression: If you are sending the scanned document via email, some email services or networks may compress the file, which can reduce quality. Consider sending a test scan to a different email account or using a different method to transfer the file to check if the quality improves.

By checking these aspects, you should be able to troubleshoot and improve the clarity of your scanned documents

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
