Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Hewlett Packard Laser Jet Pro scanner. After I scan my document as a pdf file, I select to email the document. The issue I am having is that the email with my document attached will not send until I go into my Sent Folder in my email program. Once I open my sent folder, the email loads in my list of sent emails and then it automatically sends the email to the person I intended it to be sent to.

If I don't go to my sent folder the email never goes through. I use Outlook for my email program.

I have tried looking at all the settings but can't figure this one out. Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure - I likely know less about Outlook than do you or anyone who actually uses it regularly.

I "sort of" know how it works and how its structured.

Here are a couple of ideas...

If you are using the full driver printer software (which includes HP Scan), then

Check to make sure Outlook is the selected Mail Client.

And...

This part could be an erroneous memory based on fighting with Outlook over various options and setups...Seems like when I have done this and I expect the stubborn Outlook software to actually mail the content, I do have to have the installed Outlook program open on the computer.  I don't have to be interacting with it, but the Outlook software does have to be open and running (can be minimized).

Example - HP Scan - Email as PDF - Mail Client

What else?

If you can stand to use another mail client for scan to email, you can perhaps avoid any conflicts

Stripped down basics

Based on having already / previously installed the full solution / full driver printer software for your printer...

Install HP Smart Windows application

Add your "send from here" email address to Windows Mail

Open HP Smart

Select to Scan and the type (PDF or image)

Set the Presets (parameters) for the job,

After the content has been scanned,

Select "Share"

Select your "from address" that you added to Windows Mail

Send the email and content using the Windows Mail software

and Done.

Thank you for the options.  I will give them a try.  You may be correct that I need to have Outlook open before I actually send the email.  I appreciate your help.
