How to change my folder to a new folder on my desktop, to have my scanned items into my new folder, not the one already on my desktop. I have the HP Smart App installed. Scanner app is on my taskbar.

The full driver printer software - HP Scan - can adjust the destination folder.

Example - HP Scan - Menu - More > Destination > Save to Folder

In general, HP Smart does not support the idea of a default scan folder.

After you select Save, you must next select the destination.

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan Document > Save

An Exception ---

HP Smart Shortcuts can be used to create a "Save" shortcut to save content to one of the supported Cloud storage accounts.

Create the Shortcut.

Reminders -

• First time, use "Add Shortcut" -- after that, you can Right-Click and "Edit" that shortcut to make changes
• For best results, select a destination in a sub-folder. 
  • For example, if saving a file to OneDrive, select the Destination folder as "Pictures" or perhaps "HP Smart".

Next,

Scan the content

After any optional changes / edits and "Done",

Select as the next option "Shortcuts",

Select the Shortcut you created for this purpose -- the Shortcut will save the content to the location.
