Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

My Printer is an HP Envy 4500. It prints Ok but will no longer scan. When I try to Scan the message that shows on the Printer Display is product not found. When I use the HP Doctor Tool it states it is a Device Manager problem. I have had this problem for a while and I am guessing it may have coincided with to the upgrade  to Windows 11 (but that is only a guess).

Hi @AmbientT,

I understand your HP Envy 4500 can print normally, but scanning no longer works and shows “product not found”, with HP Doctor reporting a Device Manager issue. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the printer and computer
Turn off the printer and shut down the computer.
Power the printer back on first, then start the computer and let it fully load.

Check the scanner in Device Manager
Open Device Manager and look under Imaging devices.
If the HP Envy 4500 scanner is missing or shows a warning icon, Windows is not detecting the scanner properly.

Restart Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service
Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
Restart Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and make sure it is set to Automatic.

Remove and reinstall the printer
Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners and remove the HP Envy 4500.
Restart the computer to clear cached drivers before reinstalling.

Install the full HP driver (not just the basic driver)
Download and install the full-feature software for the HP Envy 4500.
Printing can work with a basic driver, but scanning requires the full driver package.

Check USB or network connection
If using USB, try a different USB port and cable.
If using Wi-Fi, make sure the printer and computer are on the same network.

Test scanning with Windows tools
Open Windows Scan or Windows Fax and Scan and try scanning.
If scanning fails here as well, the issue is driver or service related rather than the HP app.

Confirm Windows 11 compatibility
The HP Envy 4500 is an older model and Windows 11 can remove or replace scan drivers during upgrades.
This often results in “product not found” errors even though printing still works.

Power reset the printer
With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer and the wall outlet.
Wait 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet, and turn it back on.

I hope this helps.
