Hi @EnvyUSR24,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re having trouble with the HP Smart app (formerly HP Assistant) where the "Done" button is missing from the scanning interface. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. Update HP Smart App

  1. Check for Updates:
    • Windows Store (or Mac App Store): Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed. Updates often fix bugs and improve functionality.
    • Update App: Go to the app store on your device, search for HP Smart, and update if a new version is available.

2. Restart and Reset

Restart Devices:

  • Restart Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve software glitches.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Reboot HP Smart App:

  • Close and Reopen: Fully close the HP Smart app and reopen it to see if the issue persists.

3. Reinstall HP Smart App

Uninstall:

  • Windows: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find HP Smart, and click Uninstall.
  • Mac: Drag the HP Smart app to the Trash from the Applications folder.

Reinstall:

  • Download: Download the latest version of HP Smart from the Microsoft Store (for Windows) or the Mac App Store (for macOS).
  • Install: Follow the installation prompts and set up the app again.

4. Check Printer and Scanner Settings

Printer and Scanner Connectivity:

  • Ensure Connection: Make sure your printer and scanner are properly connected to your network and are recognized by the HP Smart app.

Scan Settings:

  • Access Scanner Settings: Open HP Smart and go to the scanner settings. Ensure that all settings are correctly configured for your printer model.

5. Use Alternative Scanning Methods

Windows Scan:

  • Built-in Tool: If you're using Windows, you can try using the built-in Windows Scan app. Search for “Windows Scan” in the Start menu and follow the instructions to scan documents.

Other Software:

  • HP Scan and Capture: For Windows, you can use the HP Scan and Capture app, available in the Microsoft Store.

6. Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Updates:
    • HP Support: Visit HP Support and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer.
    • Update Firmware: Follow the instructions provided to update the firmware of your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
