@RJ1129,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Check for Obstructions – Open the scanner lid and ensure there are no paper fragments, dust, or obstructions blocking the scanner light or mechanism.

Power Reset with Extended Drain

Turn off the printer.

Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.

Wait at least 5 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge.

Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).

Turn the printer back on and check if the error persists.

Firmware Update – If possible, update the printer's firmware via the HP Support website. A firmware bug could be causing the issue.

Reinstall Drivers & Software

Remove the printer from your computer’s Devices & Printers (Windows) or Printers & Scanners (Mac).

Download the latest drivers from HP’s website.

Reinstall and test the scanner function.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
