I had to upgrade my macbook to Sonoma.  My Officejet 6958 will print but I can no longer scan to My macbook.  Unit suffest going to HP Utility and under scan settings make sure "enable scan to computer" is selected.  There is no such option under HP utitlity.    I cannot enter the serial number for the printer because HP says it is invalid because the printer is no longer under warranty.

Hi @judyanna,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing scanning issues with your Officejet 6958 after upgrading your MacBook to Sonoma, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Update HP Software: Make sure you have the latest HP printer software installed on your MacBook. Visit the official HP website and download the latest drivers and software for your printer model compatible with macOS Sonoma.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting your MacBook and the printer can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both devices, wait for a minute, and then turn them back on.
  • Check for Compatibility: Ensure that your Officejet 6958 is compatible with the macOS Sonoma version you upgraded to. Check the HP website for any specific compatibility issues or updates.
  • HP Easy Scan: Instead of using HP Utility, try using the HP Easy Scan application. This app may offer additional scanning options. You can download it from the Mac App Store.
  • Reset Print System: In some cases, resetting the print system on your Mac can help. Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners," right-click in the printer list, and select "Reset printing system." Note that this will remove all printers, so you'll need to add your printer again.
  • Reinstall HP Software: Uninstall the existing HP printer software and reinstall it. This ensures that all components are properly configured. You can use the HP Uninstaller for this, which is often included with the software package.
  • Check Network Connection: Ensure that both your MacBook and the printer are connected to the same network. If you're using a wireless connection, check the Wi-Fi settings on both devices.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
