My clear white documents are scanning but look like a gray or dark background when they come through. Is there a way to fix this? Support is unavailable at this time.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
- Step 1: Confirm the issue is not printing-related
- Step 2: Clean the scanner
- Step 3: Reset the printer
- Step 4: Clean the automatic document feeder (ADF) rollers
- Step 5: Change the scan settings

I have the same problem with a just-purchased HP ENVY 7855. This looks to be happening enough to warrant a specific solution from HP, not generic cleaning instructions from the useless virtual assistant. How about it HP?

No I gave up and purchased the HP Officejet Pro 6978. The Scan to email works just fine with a normal color to the white paper. I think it is a flaw in other printer that they have not fixed yet. Now I am trying to return this one and because of Covid-19 they are not accepting returns at this time. The store said they will take it later though. I hope.

I’ve had a lot of problems with Scan to e-mail ever since the last software update. First it asked for a PIN that I’ve never had to use before and it didn’t work and has to keep requesting a new PIN. Now that the PIN works everything I scan to e-mail has a gray background. Not Good When e-mailing Important Documents!

I just tried scanning a document to a USB drive. The document was scanned as a PDF. The PDF has the normal white background of the original. So it appears that Scan to EMail HP software or printer/scanner settings is the culprit that causes a PDF to be created with a dark grey background. You would think that HP would monitor this forum and would respond with solutions to these annoying problems.

Total scam are last printer stopped out of no where with scan to email starting saying not set up contact person who setup printer which was me. It was working fine the day before Hp had there updated. So my wife gets online buys another Hp 9020 All In one. I set it up working fine till I scan to email comes out all grey very dark. I’m in the Paper business. I’m sending documents and company’s won’t take theses scans. So get on phone which u can’t get through now. Talk with virtual agent to try and talk with a person that can help. This needs to be fixed. 0 stars Hp leaving me and all these people with no help or solution is not the way to run a business.
