HP Scanjet Pro 3500 f1

I plan on scanning some material that's right about the size of an A4, which is the flatbed size of my product, however in most configurations where I put it to the edge, parts of the scan are cut off. I tried a few straight edges, like a small ruler, and a sim card, but even that was too big. I find this incredibly frustrating as I want my scans to be as straightend as possible, and the straighten function does not satisfy me. What is the option I can choose to have the scan er stop cutting off at the margins?

Hi @mint0h,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're facing with your HP Scanjet Pro 3500 F1 Scanner cutting off at the margins can be quite frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to address this problem.

Check Scanner Settings:

Ensure that the scanner settings are correctly configured to scan the entire A4 size without cutting off the margins.

  • Open the scanning software (e.g., HP Scan, HP Easy Scan, or other compatible software).
  • Go to the settings or preferences menu.
  • Make sure the scan size is set to A4 or the correct paper size.
  • Look for options related to margin or edge detection and adjust them if available.

Calibration:

Calibrate your scanner to ensure it is properly aligned and functioning correctly.

  • Open the scanning software.
  • Look for a calibration option in the settings or tools menu.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the calibration process.

Update Software and Drivers:

Ensure you have the latest software and drivers installed for your scanner.

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for your HP Scanjet Pro 3500 F1.
  • Install any available updates.

Check Physical Placement:

Ensure the document is correctly placed on the scanner bed.

  • Place the document as close to the corner as possible, aligning it with the edges of the scanner bed.
  • Use a thin piece of paper or card to help align the document if necessary.

Scan Settings:

Adjust the scan settings to ensure the entire document is captured.

  • In the scanning software, select the highest resolution possible (e.g., 300 dpi or higher) to capture more detail.
  • Choose a larger scan area if available, ensuring it covers the entire A4 size.

Use Advanced Settings:

If your scanning software has advanced settings, use them to fine-tune the scanning process.

  • Look for options such as “Auto Crop,” “Auto Detect,” or “Full Page.”
  • Disable any automatic cropping or margin detection that may be causing the cut-off.

Manual Adjustment:

Manually adjust the scanned image after it has been captured.

  • Use image editing software to add margins or adjust the scanned area.
  • Crop the scanned image to ensure the entire document is included.

By following these steps, you should be able to minimize or eliminate the issue of the scanner cutting off at the margins

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
