LaserJet M1212nf MFP
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My printer can print, and is in the network, but it can't scan. There's an HP page called "HP Printers - Network Scanner Connection is Lost (Windows)" that asks you to check if its properly connected to the network, and that the green light should be constant while the orange should be blinking.

However, on my router, the green light is off while the orange blinks, and the orange is constant on my printer and the green flashes.

Unfortunately, the page does not tell you what to do if this is indeed the issue. Any help?

Hello!
Welcome to the HP Community @SYZekrom,

I wanted to reach out and respond to your post about the scanning issues you're experiencing with your LaserJet M1212nf. You posted the correct troubleshooting guide to follow. Please try each step in order and get back to me with any errors or issues you may run into (fingers crossed there are no issues)!:)

Side note: Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to a wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors.

Try the scanning work around(s) too, that document lists. I am curious to know all of the results!

If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help.

Hello, sorry for the late response.

Prior to plugging the printer into the wall, none of the other methods worked. Paint's "From Scanner or Camera" was grayed out. Windows Fax and Scan gave the No Scanners were detected error. The Embedded Web Server did not have an information tab (I'm certain I have a multifunction printer, so I'm not sure why the help page for my specific type of product would mention something I don't seem to have).

I have now plugged the printer into the wall, and none of these have changed. However, Scan To now works! Thank you so much for your help. My printer is now at an awkward angle for the wire to reach the wall, but still accessible. Thank you again!

Also to note-- Devices and Printers now lists the previously mentioned "HP LaserJet Professional M1210 MFP Series FAX" and "JasonMFP (HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP", but also "HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP". The one with JasonMFP has a picture of my printer as its icon, but this new one does not. The new one is currently the Default Device, and the old one now says Network Connected under State.

Hello again, my printer is once again stuck on Busy in Scan To. I have not touched the printer since the day I first replied to you about it working after plugging it into the wall. I tried to scan today, but Scan To got stuck on Busy like before.

So, I turned the printer off and on again, but it still would not scan. In Devices and Printers, "HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP" is still the Default Device, but the icon is grayed out, and hovering over it shows Status: Printer:  Offline. The other two; "Jason MFP (HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP)" and "HP LaserJet Professional M1210 MFP Series FAX" are both still in Ready.

I unplugged the printer from the wall and plugged it back in, and checked the end going into the printer to see if it was loose, since the problem last time was related to its power source. Unfortunately, it was still offline after being turned back on again. I then unplugged the ethernet cable and plugged it back in, which also did not change anything. Currently, the ethernet port on the printer has a constant orange and a flashing green, while the port it's connected to on the router has a constant green and a flashing orange.

Any advice? Thanks.
