I have an HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile All-in-One, and since updating to Mac OS Sequoia 15.4.1, I can't scan from printer to computer, or computer to printer. I have uninstalled several times, restarted both devices, redid network settings on both, followed all the fixes online. Nothing seems to work.

Hi @OlyCat1958,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Ensure Compatibility:

  • Verify that your HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile AIO is compatible with Mac OS Sequoia 15.4.1.
  • Check for any firmware updates for your printer that might address compatibility issues.

2. Update Printer Software:

  • Download the latest version of the HP Smart app or HP Easy Scan from the Mac App Store or HP's support page.
  • Install the updates and restart your Mac.

3. Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall existing HP printer drivers completely.
  • Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your printer model (HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile AIO) and download the latest drivers for Mac OS Sequoia.
  • Install the drivers and restart your Mac.

4. Reset Printing System:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Ctrl + Click) in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
  • Re-add your HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile AIO printer.

5. Verify Security and Privacy Settings:

  • Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
  • Ensure that HP scanning apps have the required permissions to access your computer's camera and files.

6. Open HP Easy Scan:

  • Open HP Easy Scan or HP Smart app on your Mac.
  • Make sure the app is connected to your printer.
  • Try performing a scan directly from the app.

7. Check Wireless Connectivity:

  • Ensure that both your printer and Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Reconfigure Wi-Fi settings if necessary to ensure stable connectivity.

I hope this helps.

Hi @OlyCat1958,

Thank you for the response.

Let’s try a few more advanced steps to isolate and fix this scanning problem with your HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile AIO on macOS Sequoia 15.4.1:

Try Scanning Using Apple’s Image Capture

This helps test whether the issue is app-related (HP Smart/HP Easy Scan) or a deeper system compatibility issue.

Open Image Capture (Finder > Applications > Image Capture).

Select your HP OfficeJet 250 from the left panel.

Try performing a scan from here.

If it fails here too, it’s most likely a compatibility or driver-level issue.

Use HP Easy Admin to Reinstall Drivers

HP Easy Admin is more reliable than manually downloading drivers when macOS versions change.

Go to HP Easy Admin

Download and launch the app.

Search for your printer (HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile), select it.

Choose to install both HP Smart and HP Printer Drivers (ensure the latest version is selected).

Restart your Mac and try scanning again.

Try USB Connection Instead of Wi-Fi

Sometimes macOS updates affect wireless protocols.

Connect your printer to the Mac via USB.

Re-add the printer from System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Try scanning from Image Capture or HP Smart.

Reset Scanner Permissions (macOS Privacy Settings)

Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders.

Make sure HP Smart, HP Easy Scan, or Image Capture have access to Documents or Downloads.

If access is missing, remove and re-add the apps or reinstall.

I hope this helps.

The problem is that the HP 250 AIO is not telling the MacOS that a document is loaded despite a document being in the feeder and the screen on the 250 confirming that a document is indeed loaded.  This is an HP issue and needs to be fixed!
