Product: HP ENVY 5010 All-in-One Printer

My scanner is no longer working however it is around 2 years since I used it. It says I need software but I am going around in circles trying to establish what. The printer is working ok so I know there is a WIFI connection to my laptop.  I have tried everything however I am not very techie
