Hi @Maggie1951,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 3755 All-In-One Printer Scanner pauses multiple times during scanning and takes a long time for the image to appear, there could be several possible reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check the scanner glass: Ensure that the scanner glass is clean and free from any smudges or debris. Even a small speck of dust can affect the scanning process. Clean the glass surface using a lint-free cloth and a mild glass cleaner.
  • Update the printer driver: Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can cause scanning issues. Visit the official HP support website and download the latest driver and software package specifically designed for your printer model. Install the driver and see if it resolves the problem.
  • Restart the printer and computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it back in. Additionally, restart your computer as well. Once both devices have restarted, attempt scanning again.
  • Adjust scanner settings: Open the scanning software or application on your computer and check the settings. Ensure that the resolution and color settings are appropriate for your needs. High-resolution scans or color-intensive scans can take longer to process. Try lowering the resolution or switching to grayscale to see if it improves the scan speed.
  • Reduce the scan area: If you are scanning a large document or image, try scanning smaller sections at a time. Scanning a large area can consume more resources and take longer to process. Scan in smaller portions and then merge the scans together using image editing software if necessary.
  • Check system resources: Insufficient system resources, such as low RAM or a slow hard drive, can impact scanning performance. Close any unnecessary applications running in the background to free up system resources. Consider upgrading your computer's hardware if it is older or has limited specifications.
  • Reset the printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to the printer's user manual or the HP website for instructions on how to perform a reset. Keep in mind that resetting the printer may remove any customized settings, so you may need to reconfigure them afterward.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
