I installed HP Easy start pro and my printer works fine but there is not any scanner functions in the software.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please let me know the printer's name and the model number along with the network setup of the HP device so that I can assist you further?

However, in the meantime please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below and let us know if it resolves the issue. 
 

HP Easy Start Pro is designed primarily for initial printer setup. To access full scanning functionality, it is recommended to install either the HP Smart app or the HP Full Feature Driver.
 

Follow these steps to begin scanning:

1. Install the HP Smart App

Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store (for Windows) or the Mac App Store (for macOS).
Once installed, sign in or create an account. The application will automatically detect your printer and enable all available scanning features.
 

2. Use Built-in System Tools (Alternative Option)

If you prefer not to use HP Smart, you can scan using native system applications:
 

Windows:

  • Open Windows Fax and Scan from the Start menu.
  • Alternatively, open Paint, navigate to File > From scanner or camera, and proceed with scanning.

macOS:

  • Go to Apple Menu > System Settings (or System Preferences) > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Open Scanner.
  • You can also use the built-in Image Capture application.

3. Scan Using the Printer Driver (Windows Only)

If the HP Full Feature Driver is installed, you can scan directly using Windows:

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your printer and select Start Scan.
  • Adjust the scan settings as needed and click Scan to proceed.

Thank you very much for all the options, this is whats currently not working:

 

1. Install the HP Smart App= When I go to the App store, its not allowing me to download the software, this might be my companies policy?

macOS:

  • Go to Apple Menu > System Settings (or System Preferences) > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Open Scanner.
  • You can also use the built-in Image Capture application.

So when I go to Printers and Scanners, there is not a tab for open scanner, I can only print.

We request you to please check with the IT department if it is handled by them and if the applications are not being installed and get the HP app installed and then add the printer and perform the necessary actions.
