Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus

The short question: HP Easy Scan suddenly stopped being able to scan wirelessly.

HP Smart does scan wirelessly, however its options are missing key features (e.g. scan to PNG) and I would like to use HP EasyScan.

The details:

The scanner was working fine until yesterday. Scanning wirelessly from my Macbook Pro today started prompting an error. In HP EasyScan:

"Scanner reported an error

OfficeJet Pro 8600 is currently unavailable. Please check if it’s turned on and connected, or try again later."

Selecting [Browse Scanners] from the dropdown shows nothing in the list.

In Mac Preferences I removed the scanner and tried to add it again, selecting HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 from the list, I get a message:

"Setting up ‘OfficeJet Pro 8600…’

An error occurred while trying to add the selected device."

I can add it by entering its ip address however.

I download the firmware from the HP website. Running the HP Firmware Updater.app shows the Device Discovery with no updates and the circle loading icon infinitely circling.

Online help directs me to “Advanced Settings” on HP Smart, however that page is blank for my printer.

When I go to my printer’s IP address in the browser,

ePrint shows:

HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911g

Web Services: Not Registered

Clicking on more details..

Web Services Status: Not Enabled

To enable Web Services, make sure the printer is connected to the network and the Internet.

Checking..

Enabling Web Services..

“Web Services is not enabled.

To try setting up Web Services again, click the Retry button below.”

At my printer’s IP address in a browser, online help directs me to Settings -> Administrator Settings. I click [OK] for the “Redirected to Secure Page” popup. I get a “This site can’t provide a secure connection” and the IP address “uses an unsupported protocol.”

Earlier today I was getting different messages and I would click ok to still display the page, but I would still get some sort of error page. I tried three different browsers and all get a similar error.

I have turned my printer off and on, and rebooted my MacBook Pro, same result.

For a few minutes earlier today for no apparent reason while I was troubleshooting, HP EasyScan started working, and I did about three successful scans. Then for some reason it stopped again.

This is frustrating. It was working yesterday, and for years before that. Please advise.
