Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP Envy 4500 e-all-in-one printer
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I have downloaded hp smart for my mac. I have the hp envy 4500 printer/scanner. I have gone through the whole check wifi connection (which is connected). I have also tried the USB to computer option. No luck. I have gone online to HP Support page and tried the unplug, reboot, reboot wifi etc. Not working either. Anyone have a clue how to fix my scanner?

I understand you are not able to scan. To assist you better, are you able to print from your Mac?

Did you download the HP Smart app from the App Store?

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

Use the HP Easy Scan app from the App Store or Apple Image capture to scan and check if it helps.
