- If you're using a USB connection, make sure the USB cable is properly connected to both the printer and your computer.
- For wireless, ensure both the printer and your computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Restart Devices:
- Restart the Printer: Power cycle the printer by turning it off, waiting for about 10 seconds, and then turning it back on.
- Restart the Computer: Sometimes a simple restart can fix connection issues.

- Check for Driver Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9128e.
- Reinstall the Printer Drivers:
- Uninstall the current printer and scanner drivers from your computer.

5. Check Scanner Settings in HP Smart App:
- If you're using the HP Smart app, open it and go to the Scanner option.
- Ensure that it is properly connected to your printer.
- Test the scanner functionality from the app to see if it's recognized.
6. Check Scanner Function on Printer Panel:
- On the printer’s control panel, tap Scan.
- Make sure there’s no error message and that the option to scan to a computer is available.
- If you’re using a wireless connection, ensure Wi-Fi Direct or network scan settings are correctly configured.
7. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (For Windows):
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically diagnose and fix scanning issues.
8. Check for Software Conflicts:
- Make sure there are no other scanning or printer software programs conflicting with HP’s software (like Windows Fax and Scan, or third-party scanning apps).
- Disable or uninstall any third-party scanner or printer software to avoid conflicts.
9. Test with Another Computer or Device:
- If possible, try scanning with another computer or device to check if the issue is specific to your computer.
- If scanning works on another device, it may suggest a problem with your computer's setup.
10. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults (If Necessary):
- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may need to reset the printer to its factory settings.
- To do this, go to the printer’s Setup menu and look for the Restore Factory Defaults or Reset option. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- After resetting, reconfigure the printer’s settings (like Wi-Fi and any preferences).
11. Firmware Update:
- Sometimes, a firmware update is needed to fix bugs or issues. You can check for updates from the printer’s control panel or use the HP Smart app to update the firmware.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
