Product: ENVY 5640
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have a ENVY 5640 ....

I wish to scan some 35mm colour negatives ... for onwards editing in Lightroom.

 

Is there a 'good' way to get best possible resolution of the negative.

I went to Software & Drivers - it has installed lastest driver - but no 'full package as it used to do'

 

I  also have HP Scan & Capture installed

You need to have a photo scanner that supports scanning 35mm negatives, everything else will not provide you with good result. Most printers don't support scanning negatives and slides.

Slightly confused ..... seen this video which shows how to scan negative.

Or is this not suitable for ENVY 5640

That video is for HP Scanjet 5590 that supports scanning negatives.
