OfficeJet Pro 9025
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi, I have an OfficeJet Pro 9025, which I operate from my iMac with MacOS 10.15.4. I can't exactly specify when but at some point my scanning to network folder feature no longer works. I used to be able to load a document into my printer/scanner, select Scan to Network Folder and the document would show up in a folder I set-up on my iMac. That's no longer working, I get an error message that the scanning process failed. I should mention that I'm connected through WiFi.

With it, I also can no longer scan by going into Settings->Printers & Scanners->Scan->Open Scanner in MacOS. When I try to scan, it says "Waiting for Scanner" for about 15 seconds and displays the error message "Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345)". I have a feeling that the two issues are possibly related. The printer is listed with a green light in Printers & Scanners and printing from my iMac functions perfectly.

Now the funny thing - I CAN however scan when using the HP Smart software on my iMac. It opens the scanner and functions 100%. Read some things that it may be an macOS Catalina issue but I'm not a big techie so appreciate any help I can get with this. Has anybody had similar issues or can give some guidance how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hi @christoph404

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you

Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support. We appreciate your patience.

Perform an RPC and then try and scan to network folder-

1) Turn off the Router, Printer, and computer

2) Wait for 60 seconds.

3) Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.

4) Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.

5) Turn on the computer/ mobile devices.

and try this to scan from your computer using Image capture.

Let's uninstall the HP Printer software -

1. Click Finder in the Dock.

2. In the menu bar, click Go, click Applications, and then open the HP or Hewlett Packard folder.

a) If HP Uninstaller is in the folder, double click it, and then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the software.

b) If HP Uninstaller is not in the folder, continue to the next step.

3. Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.

4. In the menu bar, click Go, click Go to Folder, type /Library/Printers, then click Go.

The Printers folder opens.

5. Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.

6. Restart the Mac.

7. Right-click or Ctrl + click the Trash icon, and then select Empty Trash.

add airprint printer, refer -Printing with Apple AirPrint (Mac)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
