I bought an OfficeJet Pro 8710 tonight and installed it via HPSmart which downloaded the full software, I think. When I went to scan though I was not able to set up a base file name for the scanner to use to which it would add a sequential number. I also did not see all the short cuts I usually see.
Last night I was using a ScanJet G4050. Its software was much more robust even though it is considered quite old compared to this new all in one.
Am I missing software, or is the 8710 less capable ?
I'm using W10. Under the programs list only HP Smart is listed, vs an HP folder with multiple options under it.

Hi,
HP Smart is not the HP Full Feature Software solution.
From Start > HP, select your printer folder and then click the printer icon to open the HP Printer Assistant.
Under Scan click on Scan a Document or Photo to launch the HP Scan application.
If no printer-specific folder exists, meaning the full feature software is missing, for a such follow HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting to install the Full Feature Software:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

Scan Doctor DOES NOT (re)install the full feature scan software. Neither does the Full -WebPack setup package. I recently reinstalled the printer software which wiped out my full-feature scan software that I have been using for a long time. I cannot find it anywhere on your web site or in your setup packages. Where in the world is it?

@JEvoy, the latest full feature drivers for a Windows computer can be installed using the below link:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJ871/OJ8710_Full_WebPack_40.12.1161.exe
