Hi @FlaMike

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Your HP OfficeJet 5745 doesn't have an automatic duplex scanning feature, but you can still scan both sides of a small item onto the same side of one page manually. Here’s how:

Method 1: Using HP Smart App

  1. Open the HP Smart App on your Mac.
  2. Select Scan and place the first side of the item on the scanner glass.
  3. Scan the first side and save it.
  4. Flip the item over and scan the second side.
  5. Use the Merge or Combine feature in HP Smart to place both scans on the same page.

Method 2: Using Preview (Mac)

  1. Open Preview on your Mac.
  2. Click File > Import from Scanner.
  3. Scan the first side and save it.
  4. Flip the item and scan the second side.
  5. Use Preview’s editing tools to arrange both images on a single page.

Method 3: Using HP Scan Software

  1. Open HP Scan on your Mac.
  2. Select Document as the scan type.
  3. Scan the first side, then flip the item and scan the second side.
  4. Use HP Scan’s editing tools to combine both images onto one page.

Hawks_Eye,

Thank you for your detailed response to my question about scanning.  You recommended 3 different ways to tackle this issue, and they all seem very doable. I’m not able to mess with it right now, but I will in a few days.  Thanks again.
