In the past when I would scan documents on my OfficeJet Pro 8900, the software provided allowed me to select SCAN BOTH SIDES of documents. This option/feature no longer apperas when I go to scan documents.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums, MKazi is at your service. 

 

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer and while scanning from the computer, the option for two sided scanning is not available. I'll be glad to assist you with this case.

 

During my research, I found that you may try installing and using HP Scan Extended instead:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

 

Select Save as PDF, then click More > in the right pane. Please look for Page Sides and change it to 2-sided.

 

Another way to perform a two sided scan is from your printer software (HP printer assistant) open the Scan tab and press on Scan a document or photo.

Select your required scan shortcut and then press on More > Within the Scan Pages select two-sided and press OK, then follow the steps on screen.
