HP OfficeJet 5745 will not scan via computer command. When I go to Print and Scan Doctor, it says the scanning is working properly. When I say, "yes, run a test scan", It scans properly. I.E.' the only way I can get it to scan is by going to Print and Scan Doctor and running a test scan!!!! There HAS to be a way to fix this !!!!!

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Try this Solution:
- Download only this file: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
- Close all programs
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the msi.
OPTIONAL:
- Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
- Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
- Right-Click on "HPScan.exe" > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
