Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

The "Scan" function from HP Smart App worked fine until today and then suddenly stopped working with my HP 7740 All-In-One Printer. The "Print Documents" button works from the HP Smart App, but when I select the "Scan" button, the screen displays "Couldn't Connect to Scanner. HP Smart cannot scan from this printer. Either no scanner was detected or HP Smart is not compatible with the scanner in this printer." I installed Microsoft Scan app on my laptop, successfully connected to and scanned from the printer, so know the scanner is working . Following are the troubleshooting steps I took, but the issue persists:
1. Restarted and powered down HP 7740 printer and laptop
2. Uninstalled HP Smart App and reinstalled
3. Ran HP Scan Doctor, issues found
4. Uninstalled Printer and reinstalled using quick & full installation, configured as WIFI and USB
5. Ran HP Scan Doctor, no issues found
