I use a Mac with Catalina 10.15.2 installed. I can scan from the document feeder but not the glass. Scan to computer is enabled.
The error message I get is:
Scan Failed
No items were detected in the Automatic Document Feeder. Please place your originals into the Automatic Document Feeder and start the scan again.

I found a workaround until HP gets off their bottoms and fixes their software.
1. Go to System Preferences (Apple icon, upper left)
2. Printers and Scanners
3. Click Scan then Open Scanner
4. It may take time to warm up. It will preview anything on the scan bed. Use your mouse to select a scan area.
5. Click Scan. It will download the scan to your download folder. At least that is where I had already selected my scans to go. If you had a different folder, maybe it is there.
I hope HP will fix this so we don't have to jump through hoops to use their product.
