HP ENVY 6032e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had a HP Envy 5000 series.  I bought a new HP Envy 6032e and installed it.  I removed the 5000 series from my systems and set up 6000 as my Default Printer  and for Instant Ink.  But, I am unable to scan from my laptop.  I can scan using my phone and save it to my laptop files but the shortcut button for Scan does not connect with the 6000 printer.  If I use the other HO Smart  Scan  button it comes up with the 5000 printer and I am unable to remove it.  When I ask to replace the printer it cannot find the 6000 Envy printer.  Help please?

Hi @JuneP53,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re having trouble with your HP Envy 6000 printer and its scanning function. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure your HP Envy 6000 printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it’s a wireless printer, make sure it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.

2. Update Printer Software:

  • HP Smart App: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed. You can download it from the HP Smart app website or your app store.
  • Printer Drivers: Update your printer drivers by going to the HP Support website and searching for your printer model.

3. Remove and Re-add Printer:

  • Open HP Smart App: Go to the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Remove Old Printer: Find the list of printers, select the 5000 printer, and remove it.
  • Add New Printer:
    • Click on "Add Printer" or the "+" icon.
    • Follow the prompts to detect and add your HP Envy 6000. Ensure that your printer is powered on and connected to the network.

4. Set Default Printer:

  • Windows: Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners". Find your Envy 6000 printer and click "Manage". Set it as the default printer.
  • Mac: Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners". Select your Envy 6000 and set it as the default.

5. Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve connectivity issues. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel.

6. Restart Devices:

  • Printer: Turn off your HP Envy 6000, wait a minute, and then turn it back on.
  • Computer/Device: Restart your computer or mobile device.

7. Check Network Connection:

  • Verify that your printer is on the same network as your computer or mobile device. If the printer is not appearing, it may not be connected to the network properly.

8. Reset Printer Settings:

  • If none of the above steps work, you might consider resetting the printer to its factory settings. Consult the printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
