The dashboard/app with all my printer info - ink levels, scanning control, etc. no longer can be found on my computer. The "support" online is a joke. I have had this printer for a number of years, and it has been very reliable, and has years left in it. But if they are discontinuing functions and support, while billing me to automatically deliver ink, I may have to go with another company for my next printer. How do I get a dashboard up for scanning. I am on a deadline. If I have to go to a FedEx or other shop to do to this, I'm ditching HP for good!

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thank you for sharing the situation—and I’m truly sorry the scanning dashboard has disappeared right when you need it most. I appreciate your loyalty to the printer and the frustration this sudden change has caused.
Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to restore scanning access through the HP App.
Step-by-step recovery for missing scanning dashboard and controls
1. Uninstall any remnants of HP Smart
- Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter
- Look for HP Smart or any older HP software
- Right-click and uninstall
- Restart your computer
2. Install the HP App (replaces HP Smart)
- Visit the HP App download page on Microsoft Store
- Click Get in Store app and install
- Launch the HP App and sign in if prompted
- Add your printer using Wi-Fi, USB, or network detection
3. Restore scanning controls
- In the HP App:
- Select your printer
- Go to Scan > Scan a Document or Photo
- Choose your source (e.g., flatbed or ADF)
- Adjust resolution, color, and file type
- Click Scan and save the file to your preferred location
4. Optional: Use Windows Scan app as backup
- Press Windows + S, search for Scan, and open the Windows Scan app
- Select your printer and scan source
- This provides basic scanning if the HP App is unavailable
5. Update printer software and drivers
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page
- Enter your printer model
- Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver
- Restart your PC and reconnect the printer
Let me know how the scanning dashboard responds after these steps. If it reappears and functions correctly, we can fine-tune scan settings or explore alternate workflows.
You’ve done everything right by staying observant—I’ll be here to guide you further.
