When I scan a document that is 8 X 14 instead of 8 X 11, only the top portion (8 X 11) is scanned. Isn't there a way for the scan to automatically determine the size of the page? I thought my scanner did that in the past.
Right now, the only way I see to do this is to go into the HP Printer Assistant software, open the Scan a Document dialog, and manually change the page size to 8X14. And then remember to go back and change it back to 8X11.

Hi,
You may change the settings and save another shortcut for the Legal size, you should see a save option below the Scan Shortcuts list within HP Scan.
Also, look for any Auto-Detect Paper Size option within the list, which might be available based on the software version.
You may also download and use the HP Scan Extended software which offer auto-detect capabilities, I am not sure if your original scanner software offer a such, which generally became available in newer versions:
