I want to scan and create a multipage document into one file. I can not find any information on how this is done. Please help. I use HP Envy 5660. I have the lastest software updates including HP for both laptop and printer scanner.

Hello ADM,
If you still have the HP Printer Assistant on your devices (I say still, because it has disappeared from mine), you can click on scan, select one of the shortcuts, for example “Save as PDF.” Scan the first page, then an icon appears in the lower left (see illustration below). Highlight and it says, scan another document. When you click “Save,” the second and subsequent pages will appear in the PDF document. You would save that to a file folder.
The scan function on the front display panel doesn’t do that, but you could save individual pages and save them into a Word file, PDF file, etc.
The HP Printer Assistant is opened by clicking its icon on the desktop, it looks like a picture of the printer. Also find it in the Charms, clicking on HP and it should be in the list. My computer has none of that any more. It’s disappointing that HP can’t fix it.
I am not an HP employee; just searching for helpful answers for queries on the forum.
A reply is greatly appreciated, if suggestions help or not, as the multitude of volunteers on the forums respond to lots of queries, which requires a great deal of time. Good luck.

The above illustration shows the icon in lower left to add another page. After all pages are scanned, click Save and it opens as a multipage document, for example as a PDF document.

Thank you for getting back to me. Appearently HP has updated the printer software, but left the older version shortcut on my desktop. I had to play around a bit and discovered the newer version. Once I opened it I was pretty easy to scan and save my multi page scan and save it to a file of my choice. I do really appreciate the info you post here because it reinforses what I discovered in another form, but also provides a solution to other who seek it. Thank you so much.

Hello again ADM,
That's wonderful that you are operational. Thank you for replying. It provides satisfaction for the effort. You might click the thumbs up beside one of my posts and the Solved button for others who might be interested in the problem to see the thread.
Possibly you have Windows 10 Home Edition. I didn't add that on my laptop with that version, I also can use the HP Printer Assistant. So I can use the P.Asst on that computer. You can see that the P.Asst. has many features that are desirable and useful.
I also didn't specify on the PC that it's Win 10 Professional. I've spent hours and days trying to figure it out without success. The PC does scan one document at a time from the front display panel.
Thanks again and good luck with your scanning projects.
Bye,
Rich
